Howdy,

Well this e-mail contains a lot of important information in regard to the status of NBHA TX District 24; before I get started I want to say WOW!  We had a great two days of barrel racing this past weekend.  Congratulations to all the average winners in the Open, Youth and Seniors, I hope you enjoy your halters.  Ok!   Let’s get down to business.

  1. It was brought to my attention last week, by a couple of TX 24 members, (prior to our barrel races this past weekend) that you as members aren’t required to help do anything, except your work points.  After really thinking and praying about it, I realized they are exactly right.  I then started to think about my requirements and I also realized the following, I’m not required to have anymore than 6 barrel races, give out any certain kind & # of prizes nor have a finals.  I want to say thanks, because it helped me to make the following decision.  I have met all that I’m required and then some, so my resignation from NBHA TX 24 is effective immediately.
  2. Sunday was the last NBHA TX 24 barrel race for the 2008 season (the last 3 are officially cancelled) the results on the website and attached are your year-end winners.  The top 5(1st-5th) in each D of the Open & Youth will receive Gist Buckles, The top 3(1st-3rd) in the Seniors will receive Gist Buckles 4th and 5th in the Srs will receive other awards and 1st in the Peewee will receive Buckles.  There will be other awards in your buckets as well.
  3. Your prizes will be shipped or delivered to you when they all arrive, expect them sometime in October.
  4. If you have any questions please contact the State Director, she was aware that Rockdale would be the last two barrel races as of 8-25-08.  The handling of this matter was at her recommendation.
  5. If anyone is interested in the position, contact the State Director-Shelley Millis 1-409-457-1268.

The decision to resign doesn’t come easy, but I’m at peace with my decision, I know that whether I stay or go, it’s most unfortunate that people will be cruel, but my decision is based on several things,  1.  My health hasn’t been ok! Until just recently and I want to keep it that way.  2.  It’s not fair for me to continue to ask my family (Husband, Parents and Children) to continue missing work, school activities and other events, in order for me to put on NBHA barrel races, they are strictly volunteer and have been my support system until now, and they said they are done; therefore so am I. 3.  I missed a lot of my oldest daughter’s collegiate competitions last year because of NBHA, 4.  I have my youngest daughter starting High School this year and she’s involved in so much.……..We only have them a short while, and I don’t want to miss anymore of their activities and I realized I’m only one person and no matter how hard I try, I can not and will not be able to please you all.  I can go to sleep at night knowing I tried; it’s been a good run, now it’s someone else’s turn.

In closing I want to thank all of you who helped me to make this the biggest district in Texas and I wish you all the best in barrel racing in the future.  I have prayed about this for quiet sometime and my answer came to be the week of the 25th.  As Joyce Meyer says “One thing we cannot do with our faith is control someone else’s right to free choice.  “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.”  We simply cannot make people love God, live right, or do what we think they should do.  Every person alive is free to make his or her own choices.”  “Sometimes the impact of others’ choices is tragic or devastating.”  In my case a few individuals decision to consistently complain and  tell me how  I’ve been doing so much  wrong in their opinion , affected my decision to resign and let someone else run things next year………..At this point in my life I must re-prioritize my life with God 1st, Family 2nd and no NBHA.  God Bless you and I wish you the best!

Sincerely,

Dawn Sizemore
